GOALS

Professional Relationships

Develop trusting relationships with ākonga, kaiako, hapai, whānau and other staff members.

  • I will have conversations with ākonga and their whānau.
     

  • I will maintain relationships with ākonga, whānau, AT, teaching staff, inside and outside the classroom to understand learners’ needs, backgrounds, and interests through professional communication.
     

  • I will begin to develop professional teaching with my AT and observe and understand his/her relationships with students.
     

  • Ask questions to teachers like what they like to do outside work hours, hobbies, interests to make connections, help the fellow teachers on floor work, lunch duties, greet and meet parents, teachers.

       Weekly Plan To Meet Professional Relationship Goal 

                                                  Week 1 

-I will introduce myself to all ākonga and kaiako

-Introduce myself during drop off and pick up time 

-I will ask each ākonga names and try to pronounce it properly

-Interact with ākonga during breaks and lunch time to build trust and strengthen relationships

-I will familiarize myself  with the school values, website , newsletter to seek important information

.-I will try to have conversations with my AT, get to know her, observe her teaching methods in the classroom, looking forward to receive feedback for teaching progress.

                                           

                                                  Week 2

-Making visual pepeha-provide children  an opportunity to represent their culture

-Introduce myself Post on FB school page

-Kōrero about My Whānau 

-Having lunch with children to strengthen relationships

-Having lunch with teachers in the staffroom 

-Having regular conversations with my AT- observe her teaching lessons, getting written feedback for improvement

-Actively participate in duties like supervise children outdoor play, lunch duties, staff meetings 

 

                                               Week 3

-Circle time

-Post daily activities on FB page, conversations with kaiako and whānau

-Having lunch with children, kōrero if any disputes or problems

-Having lunch with teachers in the staffroom, open to new ideas for more learning. 

-Having regular conversations with my AT, feedbacks 

-observe, plan and teach learning areas such as literacy and maths 

-observation and teaching in new entrant classroom

-Actively participate in duties like supervise children outdoor play, lunch duties, staff meetings

                                              Week 4

-Share ‘My Pepeha’

-Kōrero about my culture

-Post daily activities, achievements on FB page, providing regular updates to kaiako and whānau

-Having lunch with children, kōrero if any disputes or problems

-Having lunch with teachers in the staffroom, seek guidance

-Discussions with AT, feedback, certificates, reports

-Plan and Teach maths, reading and writing

-Plan and teach a lesson on science

-Use of technology ,resources, blended learning

-Use of different pedagogical practices, formative assessment, marking children’s work

-Actively participate in duties like supervise children outdoor play, lunch duties, staff meetings

     

  

                                       

Learning focussed culture

Provide and inclusive learning environment, that foster trust, respect and cooperation ensuring everyone feels accepted and valued.

  • I will observe fellow teachers, AT practices, and approaches to establish an inclusive and supportive learning environment to meet the learners’ needs.
     

  • I will document learners’ progress and whānau aspirations.
     

  • I will monitor akonga closely to ensure they are been included and treated respectfully by their peers resulting in progress.
     

  • I will include planned activities in my lesson which include inclusion and ALL learners' participation.    

               

             Weekly Plan To Meet Learning Focused Culture 

                                   

                                                       Week 1 

-Meet and greet students in their own language

-I will enquire about students’ culture with AT, share my culture too with them

-I  will use ‘talk-moves strategies, planning lessons, to ensure ALL learners’ participation

-I will seek regular feedback from ākonga and whānau to ascertain if ākonga feel safe, included, and valued and make necessary changes based on this feedback

- I will have conversations with whānau

                                                       Week 2

-Co-Lead AT Ngā mihi mihi o te ata, waiata, karakia, Doing roll calls

-Gather information on ākonga ethnicities, first language backgrounds

-Plan a Big book, Read aloud 

-Teach small groups of students in a chosen area of  focus, using pedagogical practices

- Post on the school FB page daily activities to know about whānau aspirations, communications with whānau

                                                      Week 3

-Lead Ngā mihi mihi o te ata, roll calls, karakia, waiata

--Gather information like school newsletter, values, website, school setting

-Reading picture books/library session

-Plan and Teach ALL ākonga different learning areas of focus, formative assessments

-Regular meetings with AT, getting guidance and written feedback

-Post on FB page/Document students learning progress, conversations with whānau to know about their aspirations

 

                                                                  Week 4

-Lead morning routines/ Ngā mihi mihi o te ata, roll calls, karakia, waiata

-Gather information -health and safety protocols, local curriculum

-Plan and teach Big book, Punctuation, Vocabulary, Inferences, picture books 

-Plan and Teach different learning areas of focus, formative assessments, marking children’s work, rewards

 -Discuss with ākonga about assessments. How do they find it? Challenging, good 

-Post daily activities on the FB page, providing regular updates to kaiako and whānau

-Discussions with AT, feedback, certificates, reports
